Camelback Claims More Victims

Two men in their late 20s were rescued from the Echo Canyon trail Sunday 7/8/2012.  Phoenix Fire rescued them after they had made it 3 quarters of the way up but were unable to continue.  The two guys ran out of water and other generous hikers dialed 911 and stayed with them until helped arrived. It is a shame that this happens so often, especially since a $10K rescue was required.  A little more...

Andrew’s Camelback Experience

A couple of weeks ago, I was in Phoenix on a business trip.  The afternoon of May 1 and with a couple hours of free time, I headed to Echo Canyon for a little hiking, sightseeing, and stress relief.  As I had not planned on hiking while in Phoenix, stupid me thought that drinking as much water as possible prior to my hike and having a half gallon in the car waiting upon my return was a good idea. While...

Naked Man Attempts Suicide

This is an amazing story.  Apparently a naked man tried to commit suicide on Camelback Mountain on Saturday 11/5/2011.  This definitely tops any theatrics we have seen on the mountain before.  One of our gracious visitors submitted a YouTube Video that is posted below.  You can also see from the second video, how fellow hikers actually tackled and held the man down until Phoenix...

Parking for Cholla Trail

Parking for Cholla Trail Parking for Cholla Trail is much more abundant than Echo Canyon, however you must walk at least a quarter mile from wherever you park. The parking is along the west side of 64th street right by the fence that separates the Phoenician Golf Course. There is also some available parking scattered in the side-streets to the north however, either way a short walk to Cholla Lane is required. Once on Cholla Ln,...
